Fundraising Committee Member
Work as part of the team planning and organizing one of DVCAC's annual fundraising events. Assist with obtaining auction/raffle items, event sponsors and advertisers, oversee event details/creative elements and help to publicize the event. Opportunities are available throughout the year.
Awareness Leader
Organize and coordinate letter writing campaigns, assist with developing community events designed to raise awareness, monitor local media for information and trends related to domestic violence.
Development Department Assistant
A wide variety of development, public relations and marketing opportunities are available depending on experience and interest. Assist with grant writing, special events, developing website content, newsletter, researching information or clerical/administrative support.
Meals that Heal Program
Groups are needed to donate and provide meals to the emergency shelter residents. Meals should be prepared for approximately 25 women and 25 children. This opportunity is available 7 days a week.
Bilingual Shelter Advocate
Assist the Latina Project coordinator with numerous tasks requiring both English and Spanish speaking skills. Duties include but not limited to; answering hotline calls, justice system advocacy, assist at speaking and education engagements.
Child Care Assistant
Assist Moms, Women's Advocates and Youth Advocates with children in shelter or at community support group sites. Duties include watching children during groups for Moms, reading to and playing with children, or creating group activities.
Community Educator
Assist staff with local community speaking engagements. Provide basic domestic violence information at health fairs, career fairs, and other community based functions.
Donation Assistant
Assist staff with inventory and disbursement of donated items, returning donor phone calls, and picking up donations.
Group Facilitator
Need Spanish and English speaking.
Establish and facilitate community support groups for victims of domestic violence with help of program supervisor.
Hotline Advocate
Answer hotline to women calling in crisis. Provide callers with referral information, emotional support, and conduct intakes for women and children who are candidates for shelter.
Justice System Court Advocate
Escort clients and provide advocacy, emotional support, information and referrals as they seek the full protection of Domestic Violence laws. Legal background not necessary. Monday-Friday availability necessary.
All new volunteers are required to attend some level of training. All non-direct service volunteers will be required to attend at least 3 hours of training and orientation. All direct service volunteers will attend a longer and more comprehensive training.
